On April 21, NCA discovered that a maintenance check had not been carried out on a component of a Boeing 747-400F aircraft, number JA02KZ, within the mandated time period. NCA immediately reported the situation to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

The overdue maintenance check involved an early detection inspection to determine whether or not abrasion was present in the drive mechanism of the horizontal stabilizer. NCA immediately halted operations of JA02KZ and carried out the inspection. We have confirmed that there was no flaw with the components.

NCA will determine the cause of the oversight, make every effort to prevent it from occurring again and work to ensure safe operations of our aircraft.
