Nippon Cargo Airlines Issued with Serious Warning by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
On October 5, 2016, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism issued a serious warning to Nippon Cargo Airlines for inappropriate maintenance work on an aircraft.
The serious warning was issued with regard to a repair procedure carried out by a group of mechanics on the engine of a Boeing 747-8F on aircraft JA18KZ. The warning states that the series of tasks including the determination of the maintenance method, the control of the maintenance procedures, the inspection of the work, and the creation of the maintenance records violated the regulations that were granted under the Civil Aeronautics Act. It was also noted that the confirmation procedures prescribed under the Act were not implemented appropriately.
Nippon Cargo Airlines takes the occurrence of these violations extremely seriously and will, by October 19, 2016, review the measures required to prevent such instances from reoccurring and make a report to the Ministry.
Nippon Cargo Airlines deeply regrets and apologizes for causing such concern to the public and remains committed to improved implementation of safe operating procedures as the company takes corrective actions necessary to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
