Nippon Cargo Airlines was issued the stern warning from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) for improper maintenance work on an aircraft. In response to this warning, we submitted its corrective action plan to MLIT with details of the changes that will prevent a recurrence of these maintenance issues on January 16, 2023.

The key points of this corrective action plan include following:

　1. Improvement measures to strengthen the safety management system

　　-Heightened employees’ awareness for safety and compliance

　　-Reinforcement of the reporting culture

　　-Preventing serious events experienced by NCA in the past from fading away

　2. Improvement measures for maintenance implementation system

　　-Reinforcement of the system for initial responses

　　-Improved management of defects (including chronic items*)

　　-Improved management for expendables and maintenance work management

*Chronic items: Defect that repeatedly recur with the same type of failure, despite the carried out of maintenance action taken in accordance with the maintenance standards, without resolving the defect.

We take this stern warning very seriously, and all of our officers and employees will work together to take remedial measures to ensure that a similar situation will not occur again in the future.
